The Most Holy Name of Jesus

is the Feast today. It says an enormous amount about the modern Church that the Feast was removed from the 1969 Missal only to be restored in 2002 as an "optional memoria".

The Epistle reading in the 1962 Missal is Acts 4: 8-12 which ends with:

"Salvation is not to be found elsewhere; this alone of all the names under heaven has been appointed to men as the one by which we must needs be saved".

This has been removed in the modern Missal. Instead, two options are given - either Galatians 4:4-7 or Philippians 2:5-11 . The key part of the second reading is the introit in the 1962 Missal.

Phil 2:10 "so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth"
