50th Anniversary of Austria's freedom

Reactions
Thanks to the Rosary alone.

The Secretary of the Austrian Prime Minister telephoned Father Pavlicek from the Moscow negotiations, with the request

"Please can there be a storm of prayer!"

And what a Prime Minister, who thanks God and Our Lady in such terms:

“Today, we, whose hearts are full of faith, cry out to Heaven in joyful prayer: We are free. O Mary, we thank Thee!”

Clerical confusion from Fr Van der Biest

The priest of the Church of the Minimes simultaneously permits Kurdish hunger strikers to occupy the Church, but is completely opposed to them commiting suicide in the Church. Some modern clerics are not known for their consistency.

Before the disco, go to Church.

Saturday night Masses with live bands or DJs! If the Church gives the impression that Catholic life is all about discos, then she should not be surprised when the young lapse in droves. Mass is the supreme Sacrifice, not one long disco party. Posted by Hello

River Valley Health Authority - Mission, Vision, Values

Reactions
Mission, Vision, Values One of their hospitals has banned the Bible:

"Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital is the regional referral centre for the most complex cases in the region. This 350-bed facility offers a full range of specialized (secondary, elevated secondary and tertiary care) services, as well as dedicated family practice, surgical, palliative care and geriatric units, an active emergency department, and a high volume ambulatory care program."

They say:
Caring. We are compassionate and sensitive to the needs and
experiences of others.

They do:
Ban the Bible from the hands of those most in pastoral need.

Hypocrisy Stalin would have been proud of you. He also destroyed Churches.

The Altar in Heaven surrounded by Angels bearing the Instruments of the Passion

From the Roman Canon

Priest. Supplices te rogamus, omnipotens Deus, jube haec perferri per manus sancti Angeli tui in sublime altare tuum, in conspectu dininae majertatis tuae: ut quoquot ex hac altaris participatione, sacrocanctum Filii tui Corpus, et Sanguinem sumpserimus, omni benedictione coelesti et gratia repleamur. Per eumdem Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.

P. Most humbly we implore You, Almighty God, bid these offerings to be brought by the hands of Your Holy Angel to Your altar above, before the face of Your Divine Majesty. And may those of us who by sharing in the Sacrifice of this altar shall receive the Most Sacred Body and Blood of Your Son, be filled with every grace and heavenly blessing, Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A great site on a great Catholic artist. Difficult to find a more Catholic picture than this. The Charterhouse which originally commissioned the work was secularised in the French Revolution and has now become a centre for theatrical studies.

My house shall be called a house of prayer

of ecumenical partnership.

"Following a recent sermon by Canon Michael Kennedy in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, when he said that Canon Hilary Wakeman’s book, Saving Christianity, would have been better called Abandoning Christianity (report, last week), the Gazette asked Canon Wakeman for her views on those fundamental Christian doctrines which Canon Kennedy had identified in questioning her theological judgement: the incarnation, the atonement, the resurrection and the Trinity"

Should Rome sign an ecumenical agreement with Canon Kennedy or with Canon Wakeman?

The Cultural Centre "Het Gasthuis", Aarschot, Belgium now welcomes you like this to a former Church and Convent of the Grey Sisters. They left in 1970 and could have little guessed what would become of the Church. There has been a Church on this site since the 12th Century.  Posted by Hello

Inside the Church dances and other events now take place. Posted by Hello

They even have an event called "Art Babel"! See other photos here.

While outside the Church stands an enormous obscene statue, mocking the memory of Catholicism. Posted by Hello

ebay- sign the petition and circulate to everyone!

Reactions
On my e-mail

"It is my intuition that eBay people would sell their mother, if they could find a buyer. But it is also my intuition that they cannot ignore this petition if many people endorse it. Please, sign the petition to eBay, and tell them to add the Eucharist to the "List of Items Prohibited for Sale". If you want to make a comment, tell eBay for instance that a consecrated Host is likely stolen property, and that they are at risk helping selling it."

The Petition - sign now!

O Roma felix - O Roma nobilis.
Sedes es Petri, qui Romae effudit sanguinem,
Petri, cui claves datae sunt regni caelorum.
Pontifex, Tu successor es Petri;
Pontifex, Tu magister es tuos confirmas fratres;
Pontifex, Tu qui Servus servorum Dei,
hominumque piscator, pastor es gregis,
ligans caelum et terram.
Pontifex, Tu Christi es vicarius super terram,
rupes inter fluctus, Tu es pharus in tenebris;
Tu pacis es vindex, Tu es unitatis custos,
vigil libertatis defensor; in Te potestas.
Tu Pontifex, firma es petra, et super petram hanc aedificata est Ecclesia Dei.
O felix Roma - O Roma nobilis.

A translation (of sorts)
HYMN
O Rome immortal, city of martyrs and saints,
O immortal Rome, accept our praises.
Glory in the heavens to God our Lord
And peace to men who love Christ!
To you we come, angelic Pastor,
In you we see the gentle Redeemer.
You are the holy heir of our Faith,
The comfort and pride of those who believe and fight.
Force and terror will not prevail,
But truth and love will reign.

PONTIFICAL MARCH
Hail, O Rome, eternal abode of memories;
A thousand palms and thousand altars sing your praises.
O city of the Apostles, mother and guide of the elect,
Light of the nations, and hope of the world!
Hail, O Rome! Your light will never fade;
the splendour of your beauty disperses hatred and shame.
O city of the Apostles, mother and guide of the elect,
Light of the nations, and hope of the world!
