Rheinische Post: Kardinal warnt CDU vor Etikettenschwindel

Dusseldorf (ots) - The new German Cardinal Paul Josef Cordes has strongly criticised the CDU because of their attitude towards easing the Embryo Protection Act . Cordes, as President of the Pontifical Council "Cor unum" is coordinator of the global relief work of the Church, said in an interview with the Rheinische Post (Thursday edition): "If a party the has C in its name, they are obliged to follow the Christian understanding of humanity, otherwise they are operating a labelling fraud. " Cordes went further, that misleading people about its Catholic nature was made worse by the size of the Party. The opinions of German shepherds both confessions against the relaxation of the protection of embryos was clear. Cathcon- the Protestant position subsequently changed- this article appeared in December.

CDU= "Christian" "Democratic" Union
I will also put democratic in inverted commas as the new draft State Security law in Germany means that a whole raft of immunities from electronic bugging have been lifted, including that of priests. It means confessionals can now be bugged.

Dear Mr. Gillibrand,

I don't think the bugging act is un-democratic. After all, it went through all the stages the rule of law of a democratic state requires.

It is un-ETHICAL.

Which proves that democracy is not a higher value, just a catalogue of basic rules for living together.
