Father Wagner- will be stay or will he go?

Wagners Rücktritt noch nicht erfolgt - Kirche & Politik - derStandard.at/Inland

The Communications Office of the Diocese of Linz stated that it could confirm that the resignation was arranged verbally in telephone calls with the Diocesan Bishop Ludwig Schwarz and Wagner and with the Nunciature and even with the Cardinal in Rome within whose competence the matter lies. That's how Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn saw it even after the special meeting of the bishops on Monday. Only when Wagner has a decree from Rome in his hands will the resignation be formally completed which will still take some time.

The conservative Internet platform kath.net reported on Wednesday, referring to a "reliable source" that the Diocesan Bishop of Linz Schwarz had tried on that day in a telephone conversation asked Gerhard Maria Wagner to sign the resignation request. This was obviously not done by then. The communications office in Linz could neither confirm nor deny the call. Wagner was currently difficult to reach by telephone.
