You are probably the only person who has a problem with this.

Dear Gillibrand,

Thank you for exposing the utter ugliness and decadence into which the liturgical "reform" has descended.

The whole thing needs to be scrapped as soon as possible.

OK, you and Julie.

I think it's hideous and inappropriate. Everyone else was dressed respectfully and tastefully. It screams of felt banners and hippie nuns in sandals, lol.

Maybe he's colour blind?

I have a couple of points to make. First of all that uis a pretty tame chasubleI've seen reainbow coloured chasubles, tied dyed chasubles and buckiskin chasubles (the laswt worn by Pope JP II.

Second: It's a new generation that hasn't seen good vestments that thinks the other bishops were veste tastefully One would never havae seen vestments like that in the pre-Vatican II Liturgies. They look like cream flannel sheets. Without any richness and utterly bland. At least the new bishop's vestments have a litle colour though not in a fashion I would choose.

Third: At least the new bishop is wearing his stole UNDER the chasuble as the rubrics call for which is more than one say for the Cardinal.

Gillebrand I think you, Julie and The Seeker need a bit more exposure to vestments both good and bad. Scott doesn't describe his own tastes but "the Seeker" quite explicitly is espousing mediocrity.

Well, that was all very interesting, though I was more concerned about the stole/chasuble arrangement of the concelebrants.

O yes, and that clown outfit made me sick. I don't understand how you can have all those canons and what not all properly dressed, then all the others dressed in an unusual manner (but simply), and then that. Such a rediculous fusion of all sorts of things; I wonder if it would have looked less hideous if everyone else were dressed in rainbow colours, and children's fancy dress costumes.

But I suppose he didn't forge that apostolic mandate in the cycle of photographs, so there must be something about him.

I thought the chasuble matched the mood of the "faithful": going to the circus, nobody is thinking about Jesus. As a matter of fact, Jesus is the last thing they were thinking about.
Compare that with a EF of the Mass. Maybe we pretend we are serious and holy, but at least we have the will to be serious. Maybe it helps us to think about Jesus.
It's all about them, about how they feel.Enough is enough. We are all convinced that this has to stop. They are plenty of religions who would take these bishops and their followers. They really don't need to stay in the Catholic church.
Did Jesus promise that the Catholic Church would be a large Church? He didn't. Look: at the Cruxifixion, they were only three at the foot of the Cross. That image is stuck in my mind. Let's not go for a popularity contest.
