"We need a Pope who leads the Church into the future". Head of German Bishops Conference

Robert Zollitsch, head of the German Bishops' Conference, has expressed specific ideas for a future pope. "We need a pope who leads the Church into the future. Who looks forward and makes clear the question of God. And who both organizationally ensures that the Curia is the apparatus which really him full and totally supports him  in his service." He said to the Phoenix radio station.

As candidates, there is a whole row of competent Cardinals, for whom I have great respect, "said Zollitsch further. Rumors of possible spectacular reasons for the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI,  Zollitsch completely rejected.

"There has always conspiracy theories in the Vatican. You have to get used to it fast." Rather physical reasons were a decisive factor was the resignation. "It really is the physical causes that have weakened the Pope very much. I am convinced this is the reason for him to say really, I resign from my ministry."
